I sat down with my local Kirkland Patch Editor and we talked a bit about the contest at The Cartoonist Studio and goals for Suburban Sarah. As the only female who made it to the final round, I hope, more than anything, it will encourage more women to take risks when it comes to their career goals-or whatever they want out of life. Thanks to all who supported me in this contest. We finished third in the voting, fourth overall.

Jodie will be signing books, and selling other fun items like greeting cards and matted prints featuring Suburban Sarah Comics, Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the San Juan Island Summer Arts Fair and Lavender Festival. Come on out and say hello!

Welcome! Suburban Sarah is a fresh, modern comic strip that highlights the details of family living. My hope is to bring a contemporary, down-to-earth perspective on parenthood and illuminate the humor and idiosyncrasies in every day life.

Through thought bubbles and the subtle stroke of a line on a page, this feature is the product of the times in life that give us laughter and meaning. (There’s a kitty and doggie in it, too.)
